Post-operative care at home: cleaning, medicine imports, equipment and logistics
Discharge from the clinic is not the end of treatment. The patient needs a safe environment, a medicine that cannot be found in Georgia, equipment the family cannot buy for just one month, and documents that must reach the clinic on time. We take on all four with a single call, so the family can focus on the patient.
-
Full compliance with sanitary standardscleaning to the protocol for an immunocompromised patient
-
Legal importwith a permit from the regulatory agency and customs clearance
-
Equipment delivered and set upfor hire or purchase, with instructions for the family
-
Documents with trackingcourier in Georgia, DHL abroad, delivery against signature
Preparing the home: clinical cleaning after surgery
After a bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy or major surgery, the patient's immunity stays low for weeks, and ordinary household microbes become a real danger. Clinics ask for a clean home environment during this period, but nobody explains how to achieve it. We explain, and we do it.
-
Who it is for
Patients after a transplant, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or major surgery, patients with oncological and haematological diagnoses, and families whose doctor has prescribed a "sterile regimen" and who do not know where to start.
-
How the team works
Before the visit we go over the doctor's recommendations with the family, we do the patient's room last and most thoroughly, we work with disposable protective gear and medical-grade disinfectants, and when we finish we leave the family written instructions for daily care.
-
When it should be done
Ideally 1-2 days before the patient comes home, so that surfaces are dry and the air has been aired out. A visit takes 4-8 hours depending on floor area. If needed we repeat it weekly until the doctor lifts the regimen.
-
What we do not do
The team does not carry out medical procedures, wound care or the patient's personal hygiene: that is the job of a nurse or caregiver, and we help find one through a separate service.
Hard-to-find medicines: legal import and customs clearance
A foreign clinic often prescribes a medicine that is not registered in Georgia or is temporarily unavailable. The law allows it to be imported for personal use, but families in a difficult period cannot manage the procedure on their own. We handle every step from the permit to delivery, without breaking the rules.
-
Prescription and documents
We need the doctor's prescription with the medicine's name, dose and length of course, Form 100 and the patient's ID. A foreign prescription is translated into Georgian.
-
Individual import permit
We send the application to the regulatory agency in your name. The permit covers a specific patient, medicine and quantity and gives no right to resell.
-
Purchase and transport
We buy the medicine from a licensed pharmacy or distributor against an invoice. Temperature-controlled medicines travel in a cold chain, in an insulated container.
-
Customs and delivery
We clear the shipment through customs with the permit and invoice, pay the fees and hand the medicine to the patient at home or at the clinic, with storage instructions.
| Stage | Who does it | Approximate timeframe |
|---|---|---|
| Preparing and translating documents | Solidaroba.ge | 1-2 working days |
| Individual import permit | Regulatory agency | A few working days |
| Purchase and delivery | Licensed supplier, express carrier | 1-2 weeks from Europe and Turkey |
| Customs clearance and delivery | Solidaroba.ge | 1-2 working days |
Timeframes are approximate. The price is made up of the cost of the medicine per the supplier's invoice, transport, fees and our service fee, each of which we tell you separately before you order.
Medical equipment: oxygen concentrator, hospital bed, wheelchair
Equipment for care at home is expensive and often needed for only a few weeks. We find the right model, bring it, set it up and show the family how to use it. Whether to hire or buy, we decide together based on the timeframe and budget.
-
Oxygen concentrator
Stationary 5 and 10 litre models and portable ones, matched to the flow rate prescribed by the doctor. We bring it with a mask, cannula and humidifier, set it up and check that it works. A pulse oximeter in addition, so the family can monitor oxygen saturation.
-
Hospital bed and pressure-relief mattress
A manual or electric bed with adjustable head and foot sections, side rails and a lifting pole. A pressure-relief mattress with a compressor for a bedridden patient. We assemble the bed in the room and, if needed, store the old one.
-
Wheelchair, walking aids and shower chair
A wheelchair in the right size, a stand-up aid, a walker and crutches, a bathroom safety chair and grab rails. We choose them according to the patient's weight, height and the layout of the flat, so you do not buy anything unnecessary.
How the equipment is used, including the oxygen flow rate and duration, is decided only by the treating doctor. We look after the equipment and show the family how to care for it.
Document logistics: courier in Georgia and DHL abroad
During treatment documents are constantly on the move: the original to the notary, the translation to the Public Service Hall, the apostilled package to the clinic. Every shipment that gets lost or delayed holds up the start of treatment. That is why we control the movement, with tracking and delivery against signature.
-
Courier in Tbilisi and the regions
Collecting documents from home or the clinic, delivering them to the translator, the notary, the Public Service Hall and back. Same day in Tbilisi, 1-2 days in the regions. The patient does not need to visit any office.
-
International shipping by DHL
Express delivery of originals and certified translations to a clinic, embassy or foreign fund. 2-4 working days to Europe and Turkey, with a tracking number and the recipient's signature.
-
A digital copy before dispatch
We scan every document before dispatch and keep it in a secure digital archive. We send the clinic a PDF before the original arrives, and the family has access to its own documents at any time.
Caregiver and rehabilitation planning
A clean environment and equipment are half the job. The other half is the person who looks after the patient every day. We help find an experienced caregiver or nurse for day or 24-hour care, arrange home visits by a physiotherapist and draw up a rehabilitation schedule based on the clinic's discharge recommendations.
When selecting a caregiver we check their experience with similar diagnoses and their references and, if the family wishes, arrange a trial day. The contract and payment are agreed between the family and the caregiver; we help with the search and coordinate the first week.
Frequently asked questions about care and imports
How long does it take to bring in a medicine?
Three stages add up: the permit, the purchase and the transport. The regulatory agency usually issues an individual import permit for a medicine not registered in Georgia within a few working days, provided the doctor's prescription and documents are in order. Purchase and delivery depend on the country: 1-2 weeks from Turkey and Europe, 2-4 weeks from distant countries, a little longer for temperature-controlled medicines. In total we allow 2-3 weeks in most cases, and in the very first conversation we will tell you whether the timeframe you need is realistic.
What does clinical cleaning of a flat involve?
This is not an ordinary deep clean. The team works to a protocol designed for an immunocompromised patient: treating every surface, handle, switch and appliance with a medical-grade disinfectant, full disinfection of the bathroom and kitchen, deep cleaning of upholstered furniture and carpets or, on the doctor's advice, removing them temporarily, changing bed linen and curtains, cleaning ventilation and air-conditioning filters, and removing mould and plants from the patient's room. At the end we leave the family written recommendations on how to keep the environment clean in the first weeks.
Can a medicine not registered in Georgia be brought in legally?
Yes, for personal use. The law allows an unregistered medicine to be imported for a specific patient if a doctor prescribes it and the quantity does not exceed the course of treatment. This requires an individual import permit from the regulatory agency, which we apply for on the basis of the doctor's prescription, Form 100 and the patient's ID. We then buy the medicine from a licensed supplier, clear it through customs with the permit and invoice, and hand it over to the patient. A medicine brought in without a permit is held at customs, and importing for resale is prohibited. We do not break these rules and do not advise clients to do so.
Can an oxygen concentrator be hired or do I have to buy one?
It depends on how long you need it. For a few weeks or months, hiring is much cheaper: we bring the device to your home, set it up and show the family how to use it, and take it away when you no longer need it. For long-term, permanent use, buying is better, and in that case too we help choose a model based on the flow rate the doctor has specified. The same applies to a hospital bed, a pressure-relief mattress, a wheelchair and walking aids. Oxygen therapy is given on a doctor's prescription: the doctor sets the regimen, and we only look after the device.
How are documents sent abroad and how long does it take?
We send originals, notarised translations and apostilled documents by DHL express, because clinics and agencies often need the paper original. To Europe and Turkey a shipment usually takes 2-4 working days, to the USA and Israel 3-5 days. Every shipment has a tracking number, which we share with you, and is delivered against the recipient's signature. Before dispatch we scan the documents and send you a digital copy so the clinic can start work before the original arrives.
What comes before coming home
- Treatment abroad Finding a clinic, a cost estimate and an interpreter on site. The services on this page are its natural continuation.
- Medical document translation A foreign discharge summary and prescription in Georgian, so the local doctor and pharmacy read them correctly.
- VIP and critical care When the patient's return home needs a medical escort and special transport.
Is the patient coming home soon?
Tell us the date and what you will need. We will plan the cleaning, equipment and medicine so that everything is in place on the day of the return.
