Choosing a clinic in Georgia: case review, quotes from licensed clinics and a side-by-side comparison

You send us your medical records; we check what is missing and, with your consent, send them to licensed Georgian clinics that treat your condition. The clinic's doctor assesses whether they can help and offers you a plan and a price in writing. We compare the quotes in a single table and check each clinic's permit documents; the choice is yours.

  • Permit verifiedWe ask the clinic for its documents before sending your records

  • Item-by-item comparisonWhat the price includes and what is paid separately

  • Records shared only with your consentOnly to the clinics you confirm yourself

Send us your case for review

Attach whatever records you have and briefly describe your condition. We will tell you what is missing and which clinics we could approach.

Discharge summary, imaging reports, laboratory test results

In our first reply we only tell you what is missing and how to proceed; we start nothing without your confirmation.

In short: how the selection works

  • We check that your records are complete and legible; the medical assessment is made by the clinic's specialist.
  • We send your records only to the clinics we have named to you in advance and you have confirmed.
  • We ask each clinic for a written quote based on a single list, so that the prices can be compared.
  • We check that the clinic holds a permit or licence for the specific activity it is offering you.
  • The preliminary price is based on your records and may change after an in-person examination; we ask each clinic about this in advance.
  • You choose the clinic, and if any clinic pays us anything, you see it right there in the comparison.

Which records should you send us?

The more complete the set, the more accurate the clinic's reply, and the less likely it is that the price or plan will change sharply after you arrive. If something is missing, send us what you have anyway: we will tell you what is essential and what can be added later.

Medical records we need to select a clinic, and what each is for
Record Why the clinic needs it Tip
Latest discharge summary or a doctor's letter with the diagnosis Medical history, treatment already given and current condition If you have several, put them in chronological order
Imaging reports: CT, MRI, ultrasound, angiography and others The radiologist's interpretation, which the Georgian specialist compares with their own assessment Ask for the images themselves in DICOM format as well as the report
Laboratory test results Current condition and a preliminary assessment of fitness for surgery The clinic will tell you how recent each test needs to be
Histology report In oncology, the basis of the diagnosis on which the treatment regimen is built Attach immunohistochemistry and molecular test results too, if you have them
Operation notes What was done in the past and what has changed anatomically Especially important when planning repeat surgery
Current medicines and allergies Anaesthesia planning and checking for drug interactions Write down the active substance, dose and how often you take it
Your questions and preferred dates The clinic answers a specific request and fits the plan to your circumstances Say whether someone will be travelling with you

A copy of your passport is not needed at this stage; you will only need it for the booking once you have chosen a clinic. Records are accepted in any language. If they are in a language the Georgian specialist does not read, our medical translation service translates them into Georgian or English, and we tell you the cost of translation in advance.

Who reviews your case?

The review takes place at two levels, and we keep them strictly apart.

Level one: our case manager

The case manager does not act as a doctor and does not assess the diagnosis. They check that every file is legible, that dates and names match, that no document the clinic needs is missing and that your request is clearly worded. They then write a short cover letter that shows the clinic at a glance who the patient is and what answer you are expecting.

Level two: the clinic's specialist

The medical assessment is made by a doctor at the clinic that received your records. They decide whether the clinic can help, what further tests are needed before or after you arrive, and what plan to offer you. We do not correct that assessment, nor do we judge which medical plan is better: that is for your treating doctor and you.

If you would like an independent assessment from a doctor who will not be treating you, you can get one through our second opinion and video consultation service, before requesting quotes or alongside them.

How we request quotes from licensed clinics

Quotes can only be compared when every clinic answers the same question. That is why we send the request in one format and ask for the reply in one format too.

  1. A shortlist of clinics

Among licensed clinics in Georgia we select those that work in the relevant specialty, have a suitable doctor, accept international patients and can see you on your dates. We send you the list with the clinics' names before any records are sent.

  2. Your confirmation

Your records go only to the clinics you confirm. Health data is a special category of personal data, so a general permission is not enough for us: we ask for your consent for each specific clinic.

  3. One standard request

We ask the clinic to state in writing: the proposed treatment, the treating doctor, the expected length of the hospital stay, an itemised price, the currency, how long the quote is valid and what may change after the examination.

  4. Follow-up questions

If a reply is incomplete, we write to the clinic again to clarify. This is often where it turns out that an item, such as the implant or rehabilitation, was not included in the price.

  5. Comparison and your choice

We set out all the replies in one table, in your language, together with the clinics' original documents. We do not give a medical recommendation on which plan to choose, but we openly show you the organisational differences and any open questions.

How to compare quotes: what is included in the price and what is not?

Comparing two quotes at a glance often misleads patients: a lower total may simply cover fewer items. Below are the items we check in every quote.

Items in a clinic quote and the questions we ask about each
Item What we ask the clinic
Pre-operative tests Which tests are included in the price and which are paid separately if more are ordered after you arrive
Doctor's and team's fees Whether the surgeon's, assistants' and anaesthetist's fees are included in a single sum
Hospital stay How many days are included, in what type of room, and what each extra day costs
Implants and consumables Whether they are included in the price, who the manufacturer is and whether an option at a different price is available
Medicines Whether medicines given in hospital and the first course prescribed at discharge are included
Complications How additional treatment or readmission is charged if a complication develops
Follow-up visits How many visits are included before and after discharge, and whether they can be done remotely
Companion Whether they can stay in the room and whether there is an extra charge for this
Currency, validity and payment What currency the price is in, how long the quote is valid, whether a deposit is required and whether it is refunded on cancellation

Under Georgian law, a patient has the right to receive information about services and their cost. If a clinic declines to give an itemised quote, we note this separately in the comparison. A general explanation of how prices are structured is in our guide to costs and payment.

How do we check a clinic's permit?

In Georgia an inpatient facility, that is, a hospital where patients stay overnight, needs a permit to operate, and certain medical activities need a separate licence. Permits and licences are issued by the Regulation Agency for Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities, which is part of the Ministry of Health system.

We have not found a public online register where patients could check a clinic's permit themselves. So we carry out the check as follows:

  • We ask the clinic for a copy of its permit or licence, with its number and date of issue.
  • We check that the document covers the specific activity the clinic is offering you, not just the clinic's general profile.
  • Where possible, we confirm the number with the Agency.
  • We ask for the treating doctor's name, specialty and state certificate details.
  • If a clinic refuses to show its documents, we stop working with it and let you know.

Broader criteria to help you choose a clinic are described in our guide to choosing a clinic.

How long does the selection take?

We do not promise an exact timeframe in advance, because it depends on several factors, some of which are outside our control:

  • how complete your records are and whether they need translating;
  • how many clinics we approach and how quickly each clinic's specialist replies;
  • whether a clinic asks for additional tests before giving you a quote;
  • how complex or rare your case is.

When we send your records to the clinics, we give you the expected date in writing, and if any clinic is running late, we tell you the same day so that you can decide whether to wait. If your medical condition does not allow you to wait, contact your treating doctor in your own country first. Once a clinic has been chosen, the next stages, from visa to return home, are arranged by a personal coordinator, and the whole service is described on the Treatment in Georgia page.

Frequently asked questions about choosing a clinic

How much does a case review and requesting quotes cost?

This work is included in every coordination package, but you can also order it on its own if you are not yet planning to travel and only want to find out prices. The fee and terms are agreed in writing before any work begins. Our first reply, telling you what is missing from your records and which clinics we could approach, commits you to nothing. The only separate costs are translation, if needed, and the clinic's bill, which you pay directly to the clinic.

Why does the same treatment cost different amounts at different clinics?

Often because the quotes cover different things. At one clinic the price includes tests, the implant and every day of the hospital stay; at another, only the operation itself. The type of room, the implant manufacturer, the make-up of the team and the number of follow-up visits included also make a difference. That is exactly why we ask for an itemised quote and compare line by line rather than the final totals. Only then can you see which offer is genuinely cheaper.

Can the price change after I arrive?

It can, and you should know this in advance. A remote quote is based on your records, while the doctor draws up the final plan after examining you in person and running tests on site. If it turns out that different or additional treatment is needed, the price will change too. That is why we ask each clinic in advance under what conditions the price may change and how you will be told. If it does change, ask for the new price in writing before you agree to treatment.

Why don't you name your partner clinics on the site or publish a ranking?

Whether a clinic is right for you depends on your diagnosis, dates and needs, so a single general ranking would often mislead patients. We draw up a specific list of clinics for your case and send it to you before your records go out, together with the result of the permit check for each one. If we have a financial relationship with any of the clinics, you will see that on the same list. That way you choose on the basis of facts rather than promotional descriptions.

Can I name a specific clinic or doctor myself?

Yes. If you already know a clinic you are interested in, we will approach it too, even if it is not one of our partners. In that case, too, we check its permit documents and ask for an itemised quote so that you can compare it with other options. If the clinic does not treat cases like yours or refuses to show us its documents, we will tell you plainly. The final choice is always yours; our role is to make sure it rests on complete information.
